• About Leisure History

  • Leisure History is an initiative of historians who, besides their work as researchers, organize a varied program for a broad public during the summer season from the charmingly renovated, nineteenth century fortification Fort aan de Ossenmarkt in Weesp, the Netherlands. This fortification is a world heritage site since 1996 as part of the Defense Line of Amsterdam. The program includes open days with historical guided tours and fortress excursions with boat trips on the Vecht river with an accent on experience and an authentic atmosphere, day excursions with visits to the Weesp town museum and a seventeenth century flourmill. In all this the former fortified town serves as an eye-catcher to tell the story of Weesp.
